Account Executive (Remote)

As a consultative sales professional, the Account Executive (AE) is responsible for driving revenue growth and bringing in net new business from prospects and current customers into the medium and small commercial segment accounts. AE’s help solve the business needs of prospects and customers by aligning their needs and objectives with Westelcom solutions. The successful candidate fulfills a vital role of leveraging leads provided by prospecting new leads, handling different kinds of sales scenarios and ultimately closing sales opportunities. The AE’s main goal is to turn as many opportunities into closed-won deals while optimizing margin. Once an opportunity has been closed, the AE’s job is to help manage the initial phases of post-sales support and ensure implementation is set up according to the commitment.

Qualifications:

    • Selling individual products and integrated complex communication solutions throughout an organization

    • Telecommunications industry experience a plus

  • Ability to gain customer loyalty and generate repeat business

  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to convert qualified leads into sales opportunities

  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills

  • In depth computer skills and strong understanding of technology

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Candidate must possess a valid state driver’s license


Construction Technician I (North Country/Upstate, NY)

The Construction Technician I is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and documentation of aerial and underground communication cables and customer service entrances.

Qualifications:

  •  High School Diploma or GED

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and communications skills

  • Ability to work independently and multitask

  • Ability to work 18 feet or higher above ground

  • Ability to distinguish between colored wires

  • Must be able to frequently work out of town, after hours and respond to weekend call outs

  • 2 or more years’ experience in telecommunications construction preferred

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • CDL license preferred

  • Bucket truck and Line truck certified preferred

  • Pole Climbing certificate preferred

  • Flagger Certification preferred

  • OSHA 10 – General Industry preferred

  • Fiber optic services experience preferred


 

Outside Plant Construction Foreman (North Country/Upstate, NY)

We have an immediate opportunity for an Outside Plant Construction Foreman who is a Hands-on leader in building aerial and underground fiber optic outside plant. Responsibilities include heavy equipment operation, directional boring, trenching, fiber splicing, utility pole framing, cable installation and service activation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience in a construction/industry related environment

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred or relevant education and experience

  • OSHA 10-Hour General Industry certification within past 5 years required

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and may be required to obtain a CDL

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required and must be able to effectively communicate with crew

  • Must be adept at planning and organizing

  • Must be able to read and perform basic mathematical computations

  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus and to identify basic colors of fiber strands

  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis and at times be able to lift up to 75 lbs.

  • Out of town and overnight travel is required

  • Flexibility in schedule is required to be able to work overtime and be on call as needed

  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification within past 5 years preferred

  • Bucket truck and line truck certification preferred

  • Pole climbing certification preferred

  • Ability to consistently work in heights 18’ or more


Network Engineer (Watertown, NY or Plattsburgh, NY)

Essential Functions:

  • Setup network environments by implementing configuration, documentation, and enforcing system standards

  • Operating and maintaining all types of legacy and next generation local and toll switching technology

  • Provisioning and troubleshooting voice services: Hosted PBX, SIP, and analog voice

  • Provide training and guidance to Network Administrators and Technicians

  • Monitoring performance, troubleshoot network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, collaborating with Senior Network Engineers & Architects on network optimization

  • Provide pre-sales Engineering support for customer solutions

  • Provide installation support for customer solutions

  • Participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation

  • Support Network Administrators, Network Operations Center Technicians and Administrators with escalated trouble

  • Develop network documentation, Methods of Procedure, Standard Operating Procedures and schedules as require

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Regional Travel: 25%

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or six or more years of relevant work experience

  • Experience with VoIP, SIP, PRI, and analog voice

  • Experience with Central Office Switching, translations experience preferred

  • Experience with troubleshooting dynamic routing protocols, specifically BGP and OSPF

  • Experience with MPLS is preferred

  • Experience with system and network virtualization using VMware

  • Experience with router platforms – Juniper and Cisco

  • Knowledge of IPv4, IPv6, QoS, Multicast, MPLS, L3VPN, L2VPN, and Traffic Engineering using BGP and MPLS-TE

  • Knowledge of IP Routing Protocols (ISIS, OSPF, BGP)

  • Knowledge of Ethernet Switching technologies and Protocols

  • Understanding of Active Ethernet and FTTx

  • CCNP, JNCIS or similar level industy certification preferredNetwork Engineer (Co-Op/Internship)


Network Operations Engineer – Co-Op/Internship (Watertown, NY)

Responsible for operating, provisioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting the company’s integrated voice and data network.  Responsibility also includes maintaining high-level support for existing company voice/data products and services.

Essential Functions:

  • Operate, provision, maintain, and troubleshoot all aspects and components of the network.

  • Provide training and guidance to Network Administrators and Network Operations Center Technicians.

  • Participate in professional activities to keep abreast of technical development within the Telecommunications field.

  • Provide pre-sales Engineering support for medium to enterprise customer solutions.

  • Provide reports to Network Operations Manager on network performance, capacity, growth, and engineering analysis.

  • Solely or assisting Network Architect with design and implementation of new network elements & products.

  • Support Network Administrators and Network Operations Center Technicians with escalated troubles.

  • Develop network documentation, Methods of Procedure, Standard Operating Procedures and schedules as required.

Qualifications:

  • Junior/Senior status pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in an IT field with three years of relevant work-related experience preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and travel between site locations.

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.

  • Must have experience, training, or exposure to the following: networking (routing/switching), telecommunications switching, multiplexors, digital cross-connects, voice and data network design, network provisioning, and troubleshooting.

  • Firm understanding of the PSTN (Public Switch Telephone Network).

  • Basic electricity training.

  • At least two years telecommunications experience preferred.

  • Central Office Switch experience preferred.

  • Lucent Switching and Translations experience preferred.

  • Experience with outside plant construction preferred.
