Westelcom Appoints New Director of Engineering

Watertown, NY – 2/23/17

Westelcom, a provider of advanced communications solutions throughout Northern New York, is proud to welcome Eric Svenson to their team as the Director of Engineering. Eric will lead the way in providing design, support, solutions and structure to Westelcom’s expanding fiber networks throughout the North Country and Canada.

Svenson’s major projects for 2017 are to advance Westelcom’s geographically redundant transport network, provide leadership to Westelcom’s growing engineering group, and to enhance network monitoring and maintenance procedures.

Seth Crimmins, the company’s Vice President of Operations stated that “Eric’s knowledge of service provider and enterprise networking technology combined with his drive and competence compliments our mission to deliver the communication’s solutions that customers today are demanding.”  Crimmins explained that their highly redundant and scalable network will provide Giga-bit level connectivity to local businesses providing the most advanced levels of connectivity possible.

Eric Svenson has more than 15 years of experience in the IT industry, including 8 years with Time Warner Cable. Most recently he held the role of Sr. Network Architect at Trek Bicycle Corporation.   Eric got his start in the industry with Westelcom, prior to attending Rochester Institute of Technology.  He has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Master’s of Business Administration from Syracuse University. Eric lives in Cazenovia, NY with his wife, Lianne and 2 young sons, Robert and Patrick.
